“The Butterfly’s Flight: A Story About Autism And Hope” follows a butterfly who did not develop like the other butterflies. With the love and help of all around him, he emerges from his cocoon and learns to navigate in our big, bright, and often over-stimulating world. Written for children ages four to nine, this engaging story is embedded with a simple introduction to autism, the common characteristics and challenges of autism, and mirrors the journey from developmental delays to understanding, and finally, to acceptance. Her website is www.hearthugbooks and a portion of the book’s proceeds will be donated to autism related charities. Her second book, “Angels Everywhere,” is also illustrated by her mother, Barbara Laubinger, and will be out soon.

Heather Porazzo grew up in the small town of Bridgewater MA, but her heart held big dreams of one day becoming an author. Those dreams were put on hold in order to focus on the responsibilities that came along with working and being a mom. It wasn’t until after her family was touched by autism, that she turned back to writing as a way to sort out and express her feelings. It was from those writings that her children’s book, “The Butterfly’s Flight: A Story About Autism And Hope” evolved. Determined to raise awareness about autism, she enlisted her mother’s help to illustrate and bring to life the story born from her heart.
