Recording Artist A. J. Croce on The Chris Treece Show

Please Join The Chris Treece Show on October 7, 2010 at 11 am CST as my guest will be Recording Artist A.J. Croce. Call in number is 347-633-9495. www.blogtalkradio.com/Chris-Treece

Shortly before his father’s death in a 1973 plane crash, Croce’s family moved west to San Diego, California, where he was raised by his mother, Ingrid Croce.

At the age of four, Croce was completely blinded, as the result of a brain tumor. Between the ages of four and ten, Croce gradually regained vision in his left eye. It was during this difficult time in Croce’s life that he began to play the piano. “I learned to play music by listening and playing along to the radio and to records…” Croce says, “At some point I was given the music of Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder as inspiration, which it was, and has been ever since.”

Croce’s first paying gig was at the age of 12, when he was paid $20 to perform at a Bat Mitzvah party. By the age of 16, Croce was performing regularly at San Diego nightclubs, as a sideman and band leader. Croce reflects, “I was into every kind of music… you might say I was unfocused, but I consider an eclectic taste in music to be the foundation of versatility.” His house burned down when he was age 15.

Ron Goldstein and Peter Bauman of Private Music signed Croce to his first record deal at age 19. He recorded two CDs for Private Music: his self-titled debut, “A.J. Croce,” produced by T-Bone Burnett and John Simon, and “That’s Me In The Bar,” produced by Jim Keltner, and featuring artists such as Ry Cooder, David Hidalgo, and Keltner himself.

Croce’s third release, “Fit To Serve,” was recorded in Memphis, and produced by Jim Gaines, who had previously produced Van Morrison, Santana, and The Steve Miller Band. Croce then took a musical turn with the release of his album Transit. He explained, “I had been playing blues-based music for a long time, and I was ready to try something new.” Transit was compared by critics to the work of John Lennon, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, and Van Morrison. Glen Starkey of New Times labeled Croce “a song crafter of the first order”.

A fifth CD, titled “Adrian James Croce,” was released in the summer of 2004, and a sixth CD, Cantos, in 2006. He has performed as an opening act for artists such as Carlos Santana, Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, James Brown, Ben Harper, Dave Matthews, Earth, Wind and Fire and Ray Charles. He has also performed on such national venues as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Austin City Limits.

Lanelle attended Mary Star of the Sea School in Freeport before transferring to junior high school in Colorado and then high school in Vermont. … After graduating from high school, Lanelle enrolled at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, where she took up International Studies with a Minor in Caribbean Studies. She later tra…nsferred to Framingham State University outside of Boston, Massachusetts, to study Marketing and Economics.

While in college, at the young age of 19, Lanelle took a part-time job as an administrator for a luxury auto brokerage. When a sales position became available, she convinced the President to let her try out for it, and four months later broke the company’s sales record. She decided to leave college in order to work for the brokerage full time.

Wanting to explore the excitement of a big city, in 1994 Lanelle moved to Chicago and managed a specialty shoe store for a year. She then joined NORDSTROMS department store, the largest seller of shoes in the United States, where she was soon promoted to sales manager and associate shoe buyer. “Nowhere Feels Like Home” Author LK Gardner-Griffie on The Chris Treece Show

Please Join The Chris Treece Show on September 15, 2010 at 11 am CST as my guest will be “Nowhere Feels Like Home” Author LK Gardner-Griffie.   Call in number is 347-633-9495.  www.blogtalkradio.com/Chris-Treece

LK Gardner-Griffie started writing her first, never to be published, novel at the ripe old age of 9. She believes in that magic nation of imagination, and in everything sees the story lurking beneath the surface. Born in Seattle, WA and raised & living in southern California, LK is definitely a west coast g…irl, but loves to travel. The love of writing and travel were fostered very young by reading Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women and deciding that she and Jo had a great deal in common. While she didn’t have 3 sisters, and a father absentee in the war, the making up of stories, dramatic feelings, and a quick temper were enough for LK to know that she and Jo would have been kindred spirits.

Outside the world of writing, LK loves listening to music and even more, singing. Country music is her favored genre (mostly because that’s what she sings). She and her husband Denny are strong supporters of Cal State Fullerton Baseball (Go Titans!) and they thoroughly enjoy supporting their nieces and nephews in their sport and music related endeavors.

Professional Counselor and Family Therapist Melody Brooke on The Chris Treece Show

Please Join The Chris Treece Show on April 19, 2010 at 11 am CST as my guest will be Professional Counselor and Family Therapist Melody Brooke.  Call in number is 347-633-9495.  http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Chris-Treece

Melody received her Masters in Counseling and Guidance from TWU.

First she worked with adolescents and their families. Success there required helping everyone see each other’s perspective. When Melody entered private practice she was drawn to working with severely emotionally disturbed clients. Behind their seemingly irrational behavior she saw rational processes controlled by a viewpoint distorted by years of abuse.

Melody’s model evolved from understanding the distortions her clients used to survive in a scary world. Her techniques transformed their lives and allowed many of them to return to the workplace for the first time in decades. The results are just as remarkable when applied to the workplace and even couples and families. What she loves about sharing these tools with “normal” people is the ripple effect it has on their co-workers, children, spouses and parents.

Practicing what she preaches, Melody is now happily married and has five children enjoying the ripple effect in her own life.

Melody is a Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist, graduating Texas Woman’s University in 1989. She is published in Radix Journal, Dallas Recovery Magazine, The Southwest Morticians Journal, Plano Child Magazine, on the Dan and Jennifer Relationship website, multiple sites on the web, and is the author of Cycles of the Heart, Oh Wow, This changes everything, and The This is Great Sex workbook.
