The Little Black Dress Society Founder Amanda Graybill on The Chris Treece Show

Amanda Graybill, Founder of the Little Black Dress Society, began the organization in 2009 with 14 women in San Antonio, Texas. It quickly grew to 75 women in 90 days in the San Antonio area and has reached other U.S. cities.  Her own experience with abuse as a young adult has given her the compassion and empathy toward women who have been abused and the passion to impact women’s lives.

Through her inspirational fiction, The Little Black Dress, she shares her own struggles and gives hope to women who are looking for unconditional love. Her personal journey of healing led Amanda to Love, Believe, and Dream and find the hope to remove the blindfold that hid the shame of abuse.

Amanda believes that women need to know that they are loved. They need to know that they are not junk. They need to know that they are not doormats to be stepped on and battered and bruised physically or emotionally. This is her journey, but not hers alone. Many women are hurting, ashamed, and embarrassed, hiding behind a blindfold of hopelessness and pain.

Amanda’s driving force is giving women an opportunity to connect, network and give back to society. She believes that the best way to accomplish this is by helping women reach beyond themselves to women of all walks of life. Abuse crosses all social and economic boundaries–all women are affected.

The Little Black Dress Society is a classy organization representing a classic dress, but as Amanda is quick to point out, “It’s not about the dress, it’s about the woman wearing the dress.”

Authors Spotlight-“The Butterfly’s Flight: A Story About Autism And Hope” Author Heather Porazzo

Please Join The Chris Treece Show on January 12, 20011 at 11 am CST as my guest will be”The Butterfly’s Flight: A Story About Autism And Hope”  Author Heather Porazzo  Call in number is 347-633-9495. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Chris-Treece

“The Butterfly’s Flight: A Story About Autism And Hope” follows a butterfly who did not develop like the other butterflies. With the love and help of all around him, he emerges from his cocoon and learns to navigate in our big, bright, and often over-stimulating world. Written for children ages four to nine, this engaging story is embedded with a simple introduction to autism, the common characteristics and challenges of autism, and mirrors the journey from developmental delays to understanding, and finally, to acceptance. Her website is www.hearthugbooks and a portion of the book’s proceeds will be donated to autism related charities. Her second book, “Angels Everywhere,” is also illustrated by her mother, Barbara Laubinger, and will be out soon.

Heather Porazzo grew up in the small town of Bridgewater MA, but her heart held big dreams of one day becoming an author. Those dreams were put on hold in order to focus on the responsibilities that came along with working and being a mom. It wasn’t until after her family was touched by autism, that she turned back to writing as a way to sort out and express her feelings. It was from those writings that her children’s book, “The Butterfly’s Flight: A Story About Autism And Hope” evolved. Determined to raise awareness about autism, she enlisted her mother’s help to illustrate and bring to life the story born from her heart.

Professional Marriage and Family Counselor Melody Brooke on The Chris Treece Show

Please Join The Chris Treece Show on November 16, 2010 at 11 am EST as my guest will be Professional Marriage and Family Counselor Melody Brooke. Call in number is 347-633-9495. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Chris-Treece

Melody received her Masters in Counseling and Guidance from TWU. First she worked with adolescents and their families. Success there required helping everyone see each other’s perspective. When Melody entered private practice she was drawn to working with severely emotionally disturbed clients. Behind their seemingly irrational behavior she saw rational processes controlled by a viewpoint distorted by years of abuse.

Melody’s model evolved from understanding the distortions her clients used to survive in a scary world. Her techniques transformed their lives and allowed many of them to return to the workplace for the first time in decades. The results are just as remarkable when applied to the workplace and even couples and families. What she loves about sharing these tools with “normal” people is the ripple effect it has on their co-workers, children, spouses and parents.

Practicing what she preaches, Melody is now happily married and has five children enjoying the ripple effect in her own life. Melody is a Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist, graduating Texas Woman’s University in 1989. She is published in Radix Journal, Dallas Recovery Magazine, The Southwest Morticians Journal, Plano Child Magazine, on the Dan and Jennifer Relationship website, multiple sites on the web, and is the author of Cycles of the Heart, Oh Wow, This changes everything, and The This is Great Sex workbook.

“The P. Word: Provence Traps and Initiates the Unwary” Author Renee Rosch Lewis on The Chris Treece Show

Please Join The Chris Treece Show on September 29, 2010 at 11 am CST as my guest will be “The P Word” Author Renee Rosch Lewis. Call in number is 347-633-9495. www.blogtalkradio.com/Chris-Treece

Renee Rosch Lewis is a recently retired judge and attorney from New York. She and her husband Charlie spend the summer months in the Adirondack Mountains on Lake Champlain. She gardens, plays golf, and partakes in the laid back community activities in her small lakeside town. Her peaceful life is conducive to writing and she is beginning work on her second novel.

Once the summer season ends, she returns to Naples, Florida, for a completely different pace. To her each place is home, just a different setting. The similarity between the two places is beautiful scenery — the joy of song birds and the majesty of trees and flowers.

Renee and her husband also enjoy France, especially Provence!

“Nowhere Feels Like Home” Author LK Gardner-Griffie on The Chris Treece Show

Please Join The Chris Treece Show on September 15, 2010 at 11 am CST as my guest will be “Nowhere Feels Like Home” Author LK Gardner-Griffie.   Call in number is 347-633-9495.  www.blogtalkradio.com/Chris-Treece

LK Gardner-Griffie started writing her first, never to be published, novel at the ripe old age of 9. She believes in that magic nation of imagination, and in everything sees the story lurking beneath the surface. Born in Seattle, WA and raised & living in southern California, LK is definitely a west coast g…irl, but loves to travel. The love of writing and travel were fostered very young by reading Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women and deciding that she and Jo had a great deal in common. While she didn’t have 3 sisters, and a father absentee in the war, the making up of stories, dramatic feelings, and a quick temper were enough for LK to know that she and Jo would have been kindred spirits.

Outside the world of writing, LK loves listening to music and even more, singing. Country music is her favored genre (mostly because that’s what she sings). She and her husband Denny are strong supporters of Cal State Fullerton Baseball (Go Titans!) and they thoroughly enjoy supporting their nieces and nephews in their sport and music related endeavors.
